We work closely with family-owned coffee farms and cooperatives in India, Latin America, and Africa to ensure the highest quality of beans find their way to our roastery. Strong relationships with coffee growers are the foundation of Spella Caffè.

Rossalina — our little red roaster — roasts just eleven pounds of coffee at a time. This method of roasting brings out the unique, inherent qualities of each variety, allowing us to find the sweet spot of each batch.

20 YEARS. The Same Paper Bag.

For 20 years, we’ve chosen to package our coffee in the same simple Kraft paper tin tie bag.

It may seem or look old-fashioned. To us, it’s intentional.

Our hand-stamped paper coffee bags are made from compostable paper and are designed to break down in a home composting environment within approximately 28 days.* Once the tin tie is removed, the bag can return to the earth rather than becoming another piece of packaging destined for the landfill.

We’ve never felt the need to seal our coffee away in layers of plastic or packaging designed for months and months on a shelf. We roast our coffee to be enjoyed fresh, and we believe coffee is meant to move—from our roastery to your hands, and into your cup.

So for two decades, we’ve stuck with the humble hand-stamped paper bags. We stamp all of our compostable cups in the caffè by hand (even the lid has no plastic).

It’s simple. It’s practical. And it reflects something we care deeply about: making good coffee with intention, from the way we source and roast it to the way we send it home with you.

Twenty years later, we’re still tying the same little bag. And we’re proud of it.
