Attenzione Eastside Portlanders...

We are so pleased to announce that you can now enjoy Spella espresso and coffees at the brand new Market of Choice on the Goat Blocks!

Over the past several months, Andrea and Tasha have personally trained the Market of Choice baristas in preparing espresso drinks with all the care and attention we provide in our own downtown caffè. The store has the extra perk of two beautifully arranged seating areas -- or you can wander the aisles with your coffee and check out their excellent and unique selection of goods and groceries. Market of Choice focuses intentionally on culling the best of what is locally made and available, and each department is run with great attention to detail and genuinely warm customer service.

If you run out of beans over the weekend, or need a velvety latte crafted in the Italian tradition, do visit our friends at Market of Choice! You'll find our beans available in bulk right next to the mind-blowing beer and wine wing of the store...

Not in Portland? Fret not! You can get Spella coffee beans shipped fresh to your doorstep. Our online offerings are detailed in our web shop

Spella Coffee in Texas!

COFFEE FOLK

After several years of dreaming, preparing, and planning, our friends Brian and Gina of have opened their specialty coffee cart in Forth Worth, Texas.

Andrea flew down to help them get their Rancilio machine and cart operations up and running in March - Brian and Gina are pulling shots on an espresso machine just like ours, with Spella's Rossalina espresso! The cart is beautifully built out and situated in a wedge of the Meadowbrook neighborhood. Some outdoor seating is also available in a cozy nook of space landscaped by Brian. This little operation is truly a labor of love!

In addition to handcrafted shots of Rossalina espresso, Coffee Folk is also serving pour over coffee, loose leaf teas (and chai lattes!) from Townshends, vegan pastries from Spiral Diner & Bakery, and breakfast tacos from Taco Heads

While they're currently only open on weekends, Coffee Folk has been warmly received by the community (with several excellent reviews) and definitely look forward to expanding their hours as they can.

New Coffee: Ethiopia Harar Abebayehu

You may have noticed a new coffee on the shelf in the caffè - we are so pleased to offer a special bean from the Harari region of Ethiopia.

Grown at 2300 m / 7550 ft elevation in the Eastern highlands of the Gololcha District, the Harar Abebayehu is a Grade 2 coffee that is dry processed on raised beds (as seen above). We have a direct trade relationship with this coffee's farmer, who hand processes the beans post-drying to ensure extraordinarily high quality.

The Harar Abebayehu shines - with earthy notes of chocolate, fig, and blueberry -  as a Melitta, pour over coffee, stovetop espresso, and Aeropress.

We stock our shelf in the caffè at the beginning of each week, so you'll have the best luck getting your hands on this new coffee on a Monday or Tuesday. When you do, please let us know what you think!

Spella Turns TEN!

We had the best of times celebrating our tenth anniversary of business in the caffè last week!

Our little spot truly could not be all that it is without the sweet Spella family our loyal customers have been to us - from our daily regulars, to the dear friends who make special trips to visit us downtown, to the local businesses and establishments that have partnered with us in honoring the tradition of beautiful, Italian espresso and great coffee.

We hope you had a chance to stop by for a chat with Andrea and a small gift bag of a Brazilian espresso we roasted special for the occasion -- and perhaps a celebratory sip of caffè corretto? If not, no worries! We plan on many, many more years of Spella goodness.

Welcome!

We are so happy to launch this new home for Spella Caffè on the internet!

Please take a look around. It is our intention that this website provide our community with up-to-date information on coffee bean offerings, mentions of Spella in the press, and caffè goings-on -- second only to chatting with your barista in our brick-and-mortar location downtown.
